Though there were several major skirmishes after this battle, it effectively decided the fate of Byzantine or Eastern Roman rule in Egypt, and opened the door for the Muslim conquest of North Africa. 1004 lunar years ago, on this day in 431 AH, Mohammad Ibn Mikaeel Ibn Seljuq, known as Toghril Beg, won the Battle of Dandanaqan, and seized Khorasan from the Ghaznavid Empire, thereby heralding the rise of the Seljuq Turks of Central Asia as a new power in Iran, and eventually Anatolia (Turkey), Syria, Iraq, and the Persian Gulf parts of the Arabian Peninsula. Brzezinski thus describes a society that loses its taste for war with other cultures as a result of increased diversity in the makeup of the American public and a lack of cohesion of what has been American culture since the beginning of the country. The fact that America has itself earned the label of the “hostile totalitarianism” that was once foisted onto a number of other countries and governments has finally become too overwhelmingly obvious to hide for many Americans. Brzezinski also id ...

Taliban claim responsibility for attacks on fuel tankers

It is said that these fuel tankers had queued up to receive a transportation license from Afghan statesmen for two months. Attacks on fuel tankers in Afghanistan and Pakistan have been part of measures taken by Taliban against foreign forces in the past ten years. Provision of fuel for foreign forces, which are stationed in Afghanistan, has been one of concerns of the senior NATO and US officials. Taliban raids, especially across the Pakistani border, which is one of the main routes of transportation for foreign forces in Afghanistan, is the main challenge against foreign forces’ efforts to meet their needs. Upon the withdrawal of a significant number of foreign troops from Afghanistan, the US and NATO troops’ need for fuel has decreased. Experience has shown that attacks on foreign forces’ fuel tankers in A ...

This Day in History (13-4-1393)

Over three-and-a-half lunar millenniums ago, on this day (Ramadhan 6), God revealed the Torah to Prophet Moses (PBUH) on Mount Sinai for the guidance of the Israelites after they had been delivered from bondage in Pharaonic Egypt. Islam regards Moses as one of the five Great Messengers of God – the other four being Noah, Abraham, Jesus and the last and greatest of them all, Prophet Mohammad (SAWA). He has been mentioned some 500 times in the holy Qur'an, which confirms the Torah revealed to him. Unfortunately, over the centuries the Israelites have tampered with the contents of this holy book to such an extent that except for some scattered passages, nothing remains in the present Torah of the revealed words of God. 1234 lunar years ago, on this day in 201 AH, a grand ceremony was held in the Khorasani city of Merv (currently in ...

He has published over 300 articles dealing on a wide variety of subjects including health, economics, government corruption, and civil liberties. Following is the first part of his article. Ever since 9/11, it has been apparent that the American empire is living on borrowed time. In more recent years, the inevitable collapse of American world hegemony and the unipolar world is one that very few informed observers can continue to ignore. Riddled with massive unemployment, an overextended military, entrenched police state, crumbling infrastructure, and the ever-present threat to the US dollar, it is clear that the United States is merely the shell of its former self. Indeed, in 2014, the concept of ...
